OUYA Console

Updated on April 28, 2013

Ouya Game Console

Gamers of all ages have an exciting new option being offered to them at the end of June. Designed by video game veteran Julie Uhrman, Ouya introduces an entirely new style of gaming system to its audiences. This new system will be powered by its own Android operating system, similar to what many users have found enjoyable through their phones or handheld devices.

Ouya will be similar to other major consoles available now, but has many different features besides how games will be offered that will attract followers. It looks to be the beginning of an entirely new type of gaming that its users can purchase for a very low price.

Bang for Your Buck?

Ouya is attacking the gaming industry by being offered at the low introductory price of $99 upon its release. This is significantly lower than what other major gaming consoles were offered at upon them being introduced to the market, and still lies significantly lower than what these consoles are offered at today.

This low asking price should be vital in making Ouya a huge success. With the economy being in the shape it is in, it is quite difficult for people to find any extra cash to purchase unneccesary items. With the price being offered by Ouya though, getting this system is much more feasible. The system will also offer access to many free downloads and applications, making the low price even more appealing to its users.

How Games Are Different on Ouya

Unlike other major gaming consoles, all games available for purchase on this system will be downloaded directly from the internet. An online store will be available, where new games will be offered on a daily basis. All games offered on the system will have some sort of free component available to users. Gamers will be able to download the entire game for free, or play a small demo to demonstrate to them what the game has to offer and whether or not it is something to invest money into.

Everybody has purchased games, and got them home only to discover they were not enjoyable, with Ouya this is no longer going to be an issue. Ouya will offer games in HD, and has partnered with NVIDIA in order to provide state of the art graphics. Ouya will support its games in 720p and 1020p HDMI, making it a beautiful gaming experience.

Ouya Game Controller

Controllers for this system will be wireless, and up to four of them can be connected to the system at one time. Controllers will run off of 2 AA batteries, and have a sleek looking design. One of the coolest features the controller offers is a touch pad that will be used throughout certain games; this option will mimic the actions of a mouse pad used on most laptops.

Ouya Console Games

Perhaps the most exciting feature related to Ouya is that it allows everyone to be a videogame developer. Those who have dreamed of making the next big hit will finally have the option to do so. People with knowledge of how to perform such a task as creating games will be able to easily navigate the system, and access all needed hardware to develop the next big thing. Games that are designed are required as all others available through the system to have some form of free component to it. Whether designers want to offer just a small part or their entire game for free is entirely up to them.

Ouya will also offer many other options besides gaming. The system will allow for videos and music to be streamed through it and the company has already partnered with several other companies in order to give its users the best options available. Companies that have signed agreements with Ouya include; VEVO, XBMC, Plex, Twitch.tv, and Onlive. Users have an excellent selection of choices to choose from, and all of this will be offered in the comfort of their living room, at a very affordable price.
